RE: HOT TUBS in general SOFTUB in specific

Have had my soft tub for 10 plus years and still enjoy it. Has always been inside. Don't use it as much as I should but its great for achey muscles and when I get a chill. Enjoy. Ron Day

RE: Air Compressor

Check out Viair. Not cheap but can air up a 80 pound truck or trailer tire with no problem. I've used mine to air up tires, air bags and blow out water lines for winterization. Ron Day

RE: Any recommendations for Alaska Land and Sea Cruise??

Also someone said you can make your own arrangements on the side trips. But I believe that if you don't get back to the ship before it sails its your problem. Where if you make them through the cruise line then its their problem to get you back. Ron Day

RE: Any recommendations for Alaska Land and Sea Cruise??

Everyone has their own opinion. We did the Holland American 3 years ago, it was great. We went June 23rd. Did 11 days, 4 land (Anchorage to Denali, then Fairbanks and 7 days cruise from Seward to Vancouver. We had a balconey cabin (extra money but worth it). If Cruising from north to south make sure you are on the port (left side) or south to north on the starboard (right side), thus you will always be facing land. With 24 hours of light its a great view from the balconey. We enjoyed it so much that last summer we took our truck camper and drove up. Can't wait to go again. Good luck. Ron Day

RE: Silverado trailering circuit info stud 1 & 2

If memory serves right on my 02 Chevy 2500HD diesel all I had to do was put the fuse in and the power was at the plug (maybe the diesel is different). My 08 duramax I had to hook up the wire,

RE: Slide Out Switch Cover

I used a spring loaded cover (used to cover an outdoor electrical outlet) from Lowes or Home Depot. I had to modify the inside to fit over the switch but it works fine. The cover has to be held open when being used. This after my grandson wondered what this switch was for. Ron Day

RE: Seals - Marker lights -- necessary?

Yesterday I sealed around all my clearance lights, both the light to the RV and the lens (didn't seal across the bottom). All but two had water in them. Also drilled a small hole in the bottom so any water could drain out. Ron Day

RE: need for locking gas cap?

I put one on my truck recently. The price of the locking cap would bare buy 3 gallons of diesel. $4.99 to $5.09 a galoon here. Ron Day

RE: Battery operated drill

Amxpress, I have a cordless impact wrench I use on my 5ver rear jacks but am afraid it will tear the TC jacks up. The reason being there are right angle gears in the TC jacks. I agree it sure would work but not for long. Thanks. Ron Day

Battery operated drill

Which brand and model cordless drill has the torque and power to lift a truck camper using the camper jacks? I have seen some that will power the jacks up or down but will not actually operate when the jacks come under load. Thanks. Ron Day

RE: Just Got Back From Denali....the cheater's way

We did the cruise 3 years ago and enjoyed it so much that we drove up last May to July. We took our truck camper from upstate New York, 12,000 miles in 10 weeks. I think I drive my wife crazy as not a day goes by that I mention I can't wait to go back to Alaska and Canada. The cruise was great but the drive up was better. Ron Day

RE: TC bound for Alaska

Did the trip last year from Heuvelton, NY with our truck camper. Left May 16 and returned July 20. We went 12K miles in 10 weeks. We loved every minute and had a great time. Can't wait to go back! Enjoy!!! Ron Dauy

RE: SB Truck Camper questions

Check my signature. I had this TC on my 2002 Duramax 2500 on our trip to Alaska last year. I now have a 2008 and am waiting for the new brackets to mount the TC. Dry weight is around 1800. Hope this helps. Ron Day

RE: Would you buy a diesel again (second time)

Check signature I too have a new diesel. My 2002 duramax had 113K miles on it. There was no reason to trade other than I wanted a new truck and crewcab. The real truth is my wife slipped up and told me what our payments were and I decided if I was pay that much I was going to have a new truck. The payments did increase but for less time. Plus I love the power and comfort when towing. Ron Day

RE: Under size leaf springs on my 5th wheel?

Just replaced all the springs and shocks on my 5ver. Broke one this winter and had it replaced by a trucking repair facility. It was a 2500# four leaf spring from Tractor Supply Co. Decided to replace them all when I got home and ordered 3 more springs. Have a friend that works at an auto garage that does spring work, he told me exactly where my spring broke. He add one more leaf between the top and second leaf with a wrap around one end only (the stationary end)saying this would eliminate any problems as they always break on the top spring (where the end of the second spring is against the top spring on the stationary end) and the company should build them that way. Haven't had a chance to tow it but hope for a smoother ride with new shocks. Changed them myself which is a good workout plus grinding every old bolt off. Ron Day

RE: Renting a MH in Alaska vs driving from Cal?

We did the trip in 2007 (May-July) from upstate New York. Spent about 4 weeks in Alaska. Drove 12K miles in 10 weeks. We had a 2002 Chevy diesel with a truck camper. Total cost was $7000 (fuel, campgrounds, attractions, meals and gifts). That averaged out to $100 a day. Truck averaged 15mpg. Great trip, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Canadian Rockies, Yukon Calagary Stampede and seeing western states and Canada. Plan to go again in the net few years. Ron Day

RE: PullRite Hitches

I drilled The hole larger in one pin in the head holddown, a pin in the main part and a pin in one of the four base pins. Then put a small padlock (in place of the clip pin) in each which are all keyed alike. Plus my hitch is covered with a tonneau cover when not in use or locked in my garage. Ron Day

RE: Special modifications for a short bed truck?

I too believe in the pullrite automatic slider. I towed for five years and never had a problem (didn't think I need the auto slider), then twice I was in situations that had I not been paying close attention I would have popped the cab. I've been using the pullrite 5 years and its worth every penny. Its your money, your truck and window. You can pay repair on the truck and still not have the slider or pay for the slider and have peace of mind. Ron Day
